These skeins of wool and silk are dyed before they are woven together.
The Nepalese weaver arranges each thread according to the pattern sheet, seen above the rug on the loom.
These are a few tools the weavers use to create the rugs. This technique for rug weaving has been around for centuries.
The rug is laid flat and shredded to soften the texture.
After the rug is shredded, it is washed to get rid of miscellaneous threads and debris.
The rug is left to soak in the Nepalese sun.
Proper drying is important to not damage the rug.
This final shot of the rug shows off the red and brown tones in the striations.
